In 2011, both Japan and Thailand went through tragic disasters: Great Earthquake and Tsunami hit Japan, followed soon after by a big flood in Thailand that brought severe damage in wide areas of the country. Since then, the concept of “Disaster Prevention” or “Disaster Risk Reduction” has widely been acknowledged by Thai society and people.
The Japan Foundation, Bangkok (JFBKK) has conducted various projects on “Disaster Education” since 2012, under the aim of promoting the awareness of disaster preparedness in Thailand, by sharing knowledge and experience together with other countries throughout Asia. Especially, the “Red Bear Survival Camp in Thailand” launched in 2014 is a workshop event for children and youth to learn useful ideas to prepare for natural disasters in fun and creative ways.
This time, JFBKK will organize the 5th workshop of Red Bear Survival Camp in Thailand on the coming 27th to 29th May, 2016 for the students from Chitralada Vocational School. We hope your kind attention to this event, so that the awareness for disaster preparedness can be more broadly reached through out Thailand.
