Synopsis: Film director Imamura Ayako, who was born deaf, turns the camera on herself and documents her bicycle journey traversing the length of Japan from Okinawa to Hokkaido. The film’s theme is “communication” and depicts her interactions with the people meets at each locale.
The documentary covers 57 days of tears and despair in the face of communication barriers. Tetsu, the cameraman who accompanies Ayako, gives pep talks and she meets a traveler named Will who has lost his hearing. This film is a gift of courage to be seen by anyone who is feeling indecisive.
