Immerse Yourself in 13 Shows from 9 Countries
Explore the World of Imagination through Performing Arts
|
The Bangkok International Children’s Theatre Festival, held every two years, returned with the 2024 theme ‘Cross the Threshold: follow your butterflies’, featuring 13 performances by artists from Taiwan, Cambodia, Japan, Spain, Singapore, France, Sweden, U.K. and Thailand and presented performances for children, youth, and families. BICT Fest 2024 invited families and friends to join this grand celebration of performing arts in the heart of Bangkok from August 1-11, 2024.
This marked the festival’s full-scale return onsite after a six-year hiatus due to the pandemic. The last BICT Fest in 2021 was an online edition, but BICT Fest 2024 offered the chance to meet in person over two weekends in August. Attendees could explore various forms of performing arts, including contemporary dance, puppet theatre, interactive shows, and thrilling outdoor performances in parks. Among the participating artist was Takeshi Matsumoto from the company ‘Seven Circles’ who presented ‘Club Origami’ a performance combining play, movement, and the traditional Japanese art called ‘Origami’.
To further inspire theatre for young audiences, BICT Fest also held the 2nd Asian Theatre for Young Audiences Meeting or ATYA Meeting, in collaboration with the Japan Foundation, under the theme “Current Trends & Movements in ATYA”, exploring key topics including sustainable growth and development of TYA in Asia. The meeting consisted of a 3-day programme including 2 panel discussions, 2 roundtables, a visit to creative learning spaces in Bangkok and other special activities such as BICT Debut and Networking Session.
