SiamANIMA, or the Siam International Animation Festival, is Thailand’s platform for auteur animations driven by a unique voice, artistic clarity, and a bold exploration of the medium’s boundaries. SiamANIMA, together with the Japan Foundation, Bangkok proudly presents animations from Southeast Asia and beyond, which exemplify excellence in content, technique, and perspective.

Screening
‘Japan Spotlight: Friction – Curated by Movop’
SiamANIMA, together with Movop, a collective of young Japanese artist, invites you to the special screening program ‘Japan Spotlight: Friction – Curated by Movop,’ presenting 7 short animations under the theme on friction between the body and the room, as a metaphor for institutional structures. This program features artists who have presented their works in diverse spaces since the 1990s, re-examining bodily expression within the medium of animation.

Workshop
‘Draw Lines that embody Abstraction’
Led by Japanese artist Fukumi Nakazawa, this workshop sharpens the observational skills animators need—seeing in three-dimensional space and translating them into motion. Participants will animate a shape born purely from imagination, using a single line to express depth, emotion, and movement.
The session ends with a spatial twist: finished works will be projected onto walls, transforming them into site-specific installations that blur the line between imagination, space, and perception in reality.
Exhibition
CONNECT AND FEEL through sights and spaces – Curated by Eyedropper Fill
An exhibition that invites everyone to dig deep into the essence of animation, go beyond the screen into installations and interactive experiences that differ from traditional cinema viewing. Fukumi Nakazawa will present her work among 4 other artists. Come experience animation that transcends storytelling through sight, sound, and emotion.
