From the deeply expressive illustrations of ‘Totto-Chan: The Little Girl at the Window’, the masterpieces of Chihiro Iwasaki, one of the most beloved Japanese artists/illustrators in the world, will be displayed for the first time in Thailand.

 

The Japan Foundation, Bangkok in collaboration with the Chihiro Art Museum Azumino will displayed more than 40 water-coloured paintings of Chihiro Chihiro Iwasaki on 5 October – 16 November 2014 at the Curved Wall, 3rd-5th Floor, the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre, Bangkok.

 

The Opening Ceremony will be held on 5 October, 2014 at 16.00 hr. After that Ms.Yuko Takesako, Vice Director, Chihiro Art Museum will give a special talk at 17.00-17.30 hr.

 

Interested media are welcome to join the exhibition tour led by a Chihiro Museum Curator at 17.45-18.45.

Postcards from the Chihiro Art Museum were sold out in a short time at the registration desks.
Guests lined up for the registration and buying postcards.
Before the opening ceremony, guets walked around the exhibition.
Khun Phutsadi Nawaichit, a famous translator who made ‘Totochan’ become well known
among Thai readers kindly gave her special speech for the opening ceremony.
Mr.Fukuda Kazuhiro, Director General of the Japan Foundation, Bangkok
presented the opening remarks.
Miss Yuko Takesako, Vice Director of the Chihiro Art Museum was presenting a talk on
“History of Japanese Picture Books : from E-ingakyo
(the Illustrated Sutra of Cause and Effect) to Chihiro Iwasaki“
