Platform: STAGE BEYOND BORDERS－Selection of Japanese Performances – YouTube   Language: English subtitles, Thai subtitle and other languages will be provided to some selected performances.

The Japan Foundation has been running the “Stage Beyond Borders – Selection of Japanese Performances -” project since February 2021 with the aim of bringing outstanding Japanese performances to a wider audience through online distribution. So far, several quality performances have been distributed online with multilingual subtitles, covering a wide range of genres from contemporary theater to dance, traditional and folk performing arts, and concerts.

Discover and deepen your knowledge through our selection of quality performances such as music performances performed in “CUEW Showcase and Conference”, “cocoon(2022 ver)” a manga based play by a theatre company, MUM&GYPSY, and traditional dances and festivals such as “Kumiodori” and “Hana Matsuri”.

Each performance will feature multilingual subtitles and will be available on the Japan Foundation’s official YouTube channel without cost!

– Chinese subtitles are available in both simplified and traditional Chinese.
– Subtitles of language other than English may be added after the release date due to production reasons.

How to watch

1. Simply follow the link to the Japan Foundation’s YouTube here and choose a video from the “STAGE BEYOND BORDERS – Selection of Japanese Performances” playlist to play.
2. At the bottom right of the screenplay, you will see a cog wheel button. Click it and the setting tab will appear.
3. Choose a language for the subtitles in [cc]. Thai Subtitle will be provided to some selected videos.
